D’ARCY (née McCann) Joan (Nanny Joan) (Ballybrack, Co. Dublin) – October 9^th 2026.  It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Joan, affectionately known as Nanny Joan.  Predeceased by her parents John and Esther, brother Hugo and husband Joe, who we know was waiting for her with open arms.

Joan will be forever loved and deeply missed by her sons Ray and Dominic, her daughter Sue, her daughters-in-law Jo and Ali and son-in-law George, her cherished grandchildren Daniel, Shannon, George, Freya, Fionn and Eiré, their partners, Aideen, Sam, Keela and Isobell, her beloved nieces and nephews, close friend Mary, extended family, and her wide circle of friends and neighbours.

Nanny Joan was the world’s Nan, loved by so many and treasured by everyone lucky enough to know her. She leaves behind a lifetime of love and a space in so many hearts. She will be missed more than words can say and loved always.

A special and heartfelt thank you to the staff of Annebeg Nursing Home, who cared for Joan in her final moments with such care and compassion as if she was family. Their kindness will never be forgotten.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
